  • Dependent Children through age 20 (age 24 if full -time student) may be covered as dependents on their parent's plan.

Purchasing a short-term medical insurance plan will make you ineligible for any guaranteed issue individual health plans commonly referred to as HIPAA Plans.(BE CAUTIOUS!! In most cases short term coverage is not considered crediable coverage under HIPAA)

HIPAA plans are usually very expensive and are generally intended for people with pre-existing medical conditions who would have trouble getting health insurance otherwise. If you wish to maintain your eligibility for HIPAA plans, you should not purchase a short-term plan.

[IDEA!!  If you are HIPAA eligible you might consider Short Term Medical insurance on the healthy individual(s) ONLY, since pre-existing conditions should not or may not be an issue for the individual(s) personally.]

Please consult your benefits advisor to discuss your rights under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other rights under state law.
